A/N: Loki is and reader are childhood friends and reader ‘low-key’ has it bad for him. (ba dum tsh) Loki is overly affectionate friend because why not. Universe without avengers all of that jazz, no mentions of Loki being throne hungry, I got the idea for this fic when I was *cough* definitely not drunk*cough* so please don’t judge if its weird, loki will probably be ooc, I’ve never written for him or anyone in his fandom

You let out a sigh mixed with bliss and happiness as Loki trails kisses along your neck, coming down from the high he brought you to. He raises his head and looks at you with a small smile on his face.
“You are a vision, my love.” He says before giving you a slight peck on the lips. You parts your lips to reply to him, but he puts a finger to them.
“However, I believe you would rather hear that from the real me, don’t you think?” He says. You knit your eyebrows in confusion before everything disappears and you jolt awake. Staring at the ceiling of your bedroom, you press a hand to your face and make a sound of irritation.
“Not again.” You murmur.
Pushing yourself up you turn and put your feet on the floor. These dreams have been getting more and more frequent. Having started awhile ago when you realized you were in love with the raven haired prince. Standing up you walk over to the water basin and splash your face a little to wake yourself. You look into the mirror and touch the places on your neck where you could almost feel his lips gently kissing you. A faint blush rose to your cheeks as you recalled the more lewd details of the dream. The dreams always left a warm feeling to your body. You slap your cheeks a few times to get the blush to leave, but to no avail.
Slipping on your [f/c] silk and lace robe you open the doors to your balcony and step out into the cool Asgardian night air. Leaning against the railing you stare at the stars. You wonder what forces caused you to fall to hard for someone so far from your reach. You are pulled from your thoughts when you hear a soft voice calling your name.
“[Name], look down.” The voice says, you follow it’s command and are greeted by the person of yours dreams. Prince Loki. Standing two floors beneath you in the garden.
“Well, I thought you would never snap out of it. Come down here then.” He gestures to the area around him with a grin on his face.  You raise an eyebrow skeptically and he gives you a pleading look. You sigh and step back from the railing, using some of the little magic you know, you disappear into a puff of [f/c] smoke, only to reappear in front of Loki a moment later.
He takes your hand, something the two of you have done since childhood, and begins walking with you around the garden.
“Now, why are you awake at this hour?” He asked casually, “Bad dreams again?” giving you a sympathetic look, he squeezed your hand gently. You turn your head slightly and blush as the dream comes to mind and you give a small nod.
“Yes, they keep getting worse and worse.” You told Loki some time ago that you had frequent “bad dreams”, which wasn’t entirely false, as lovely as they were, it was torture to keep having them while knowing they would never be reality. And you wanted them to be reality oh so badly.
“What is it that haunts your dreams my dear?” He asks circling around the large tree in the center of the garden.
“You know I never remember,” you fib. Another white lie you told him. He nods his head in understanding. “What about yourself, my Prince?” He knits his brows in irritation.
“I don’t really feel like discussing it, and I told you to call me Loki, aside from being a noble you are my closest friend,” You tilt your head in confusion until you remember the look on his face, growing a small grin, you start laughing.
“Was there another ‘hopeless’ maiden at your door tonight?” Teasing him you playfully shove his shoulder.
Just as Thor had many women around him at every hour of the day (and night), Loki received many confessions as well, he claims they only want to use him for his title, but you had not been blind to the stares he received when Thor convinced him to train one day and Loki removed his armor (including his shirt). He always rejects them however, claiming someone already has his heart. You cannot help but think, with a pain in your heart, of how beautiful and smart she must be to have gained Loki’s affection.
You look at him, the outline of his face, his brow scrunched in frustration, his eyes that made you weak in the knees every time he looked at you, down to his lips. The lips that kiss you lovingly in your dreams. Your heart sinks again as you realize just how helplessly in love you are with the green eyed trickster, the man who would never reciprocate your feelings. After all, you are only his “closest friend” and he says he has someone whom he loves. Releasing his hand you stop walking. Loki turns to you.
“Are you all right [Name]?”
“...Yes, I’m just feeling tired again, perhaps I should return to bed.” You reply halfheartedly.
“I see,” he comes closer and bends down to place a kiss to your forehead. Your eyes grow wide and a blush rises to your face.
“M-my Prince, what are y-”
“A charm to help you sleep,” He says giving you a simple smile, “Sleep well my friend.” Giving you a pat on the shoulder he steps back, “And I told you it’s Loki as far as you’re concerned.”
You simply stare at him for a few seconds and poof back to your balcony without a word. Looking down you see Loki waving goodbye. You hurry into your room and shut the doors behind you. Dashing to your bed quickly sink down on the mattress and replay the forehead kiss over and over in your mind. There was definitely no way you would be able to return to sleep tonight.

--Four days later--
You had just finished dressing in a simple [f/c] gown, and sat down in front of the mirror to brush your [h/l] [h/c] hair when you hear a simple knock at the door.
“Please come in,” You called out. The heavy wooden door opened with a groan and in walked your chambermaid, Ingrid.
“I’ve come with breakfast my lady,” She says carrying a tray.
“Please set it on the table, do you want any?” You say, as it was quite normal, you were friends after all, and you didn’t really see her as a servant. She set it down but didn’t take anything, instead walking over to help with your hair.
“It is one of my duties to help you get ready in the morning my lady, why do you never wait for me?” She says taking the brush, beginning to pull out the little knots in your hair.
“I just think it’s kind of silly that you’re supposed to dress me and such, I can do it myself after a- Ow!” The brush caught on a tougher knot.
“I’m sorry my Lady, it’s just your hair has been so much messier than usual, have you been sleeping well?” She says continuing to brush.
“I haven’t been doing much sleeping actually,” since about four nights ago in fact, “just tossing and turning.”
“Oh my, have you gone to the Prince for some sort of sleeping spell yet?” Your forehead heats up where Loki kissed you.
“No, in fact I haven’t seen him in the past few days.” You reply honestly.
“Well, that’s strange, usually the two of you are attached at the hip.” She continues, beginning to braid/style your hair. You feel your heart ache.
“Yes we usually are...” you trail off as a knock sounds again on your door. Ingrid finishes with your hair and goes to the door, you stare into the mirror disinterested, thinking of Loki.
“Oh! Prince Loki please do come in!” Ingrid says opening the door and slightly bowing. You whip around to see Loki walk in with his hands behind his back, as regal as always. He smiles when his eyes land on you and walks over to you, taking both your hands in his.
“Good morning, my dear, you look lovely as always.”  You flush at his words and turn your head shyly.
“You flatter me.”
“I speak only the truth,” He says smiling, “Now then, I was wondering if you would accompany me today, I have some errands to run and I feel it will be terribly boring without you.”
“Of course, I would love to, when are we leaving?”
“Now is good,” He says and suddenly your surroundings change and you are in the marketplace, some civilians look at you oddly until they see Loki and then continue on with their business.
“Let’s get started then shall we.” He gives you a cocky grin.

--Time skip--
You walk slightly behind Loki, emotionally drained. Everywhere you went today Loki was being even more attractive and sweet than normal, that or you really needed sleep. Probably both.
This first time was in the market when you were walking along side of him talking, when someone carrying a pail of water accidentally bumped into him, getting him partially wet. Enough to where you could see through his shirt. You turned and pretended to be looking at various flowers, hoping he wouldn’t see your blushing face. Instead he picked one and tucked it behind your ear, only worsening the blush.
The second time was when you were walking through the streets and he pulled you to him to save you from getting run over by a horse whose owner had lost control. You were pressed against his chest and you wouldn’t have been surprised if he was able to feel your heart about to burst.
The third was in the book store. Loki was browsing through various novels, he picked one up and flipped through the pages, without looking up he motioned you over. Putting the book between you and himself he leaned his head on yours, and read a few pages to you, asked your opinion, and then bought the book.
Currently you were walking past various artisan stalls, Loki leading you through the crowd and you thinking about the day’s events. You didn’t realize you had stopped walking until Loki gently tugged at your hand.
“Everything alright?” He asks concerned, his voice making you melt.
“Y-yes, I’m fine,” you reply. Squeezing his hand back to reassure him.
“Well, that’s good,” he says turning his head back to the stall you’ve stopped in front of, “what do you think of these?” You glance over and your eyes widen when you see a table full of jewelry, sparkling rings, elegant necklaces, intricate pins and other various shiny baubles and pieces. You shake off the idea he was buying anything for you. You raise an eyebrow teasingly.
“May I ask why you are looking at ladies jewelry my Prince?” you ask teasingly. He releases your hand to pick up a jeweled hair piece and examine it.
“How many times do I have to tell you to call me Loki,” He says turning to you looking you in the eyes before holding to the comb out to you, “I’m thinking of buying something as a way to confess my feelings to a special someone, what do you think of this?” It suddenly felt as if your heart was hurting more than usual as you gave a halfhearted shake of your head. As he turns back to the display you bring a hand to clutch the front of your dress, feeling your heart break. Loki was going to confess to his love. You didn’t want to think about this, him kissing someone else, holding someone else’s hand, telling them he loved them. Your eyes were becoming damp. You needed to leave- go somewhere, anywhere, you couldn’t let him see you cry.
“I’ll take this one,” you vaguely hear him say to someone. You take a step backwards, as the jeweler places something in his hand. You felt a tear roll down your cheek. Instantly you are gone, disappearing into cloud of [f/c]. Loki turns to the spot where you were standing, and is shocked to see you gone.
“[Name]?”

--timeskip--
You sigh as your wipe your eyes. You lean against the tree you are sitting under, your head falls slightly to the side tired. Staring blankly at the large lake in front of you, the moon softly reflected on the surface. It has most likely been at least seven hours since you came here. A small breeze blows past you and you brings your knees to your chest. Sitting there for a while just watching the water lap at the shore. Until you stand up and walk to the edge, picking up a small stone and skipping in along the surface, creating small circles overlapping each other. Taking off your shoes, you lift your dress and wade about ankle deep into the cold water, feeling many little pebbles under your feet. You see the stars reflected and look upwards. You smile a little at the vast amount of stars. You usually couldn’t see this many stars with all the lights of Asgard, but now the dark sky was blanketed with thousands of little specks. It reminds you of the walk in the garden with Loki a few nights ago. A frown settles on your face. Loki. You wonder how long he stood there, confused by your sudden departure. Did he look for you? Did he worry? Or, perhaps did he move along and go to meet with his love and give to her whatever it is he bought like he planned. You close your eyes and let out a deep breath. Rubbing your face, which was stiff, your cheeks and eyes swollen a little from all the crying. You feel something slip from your hair, and looked down and see the flower from earlier floating on top of the water, kneeling down you pick it up. You huff and settle on confessing to Loki. Even though you knew he belonged to another, you wanted, no needed, him to know how much you love him. His smooth as silk voice, his long black hair, his piercing green eyes that would leave goosebumps all over you, they way he laughed when he played a trick on someone, how his hand seemed to fit perfectly with yours, and how safe you felt when he hugged you. He needed to know all of that. You expect once he hears how his ‘closest friend’ feels it will ruin everything. All these years of friendship, you suppose that’s why you never told him before, but now that your heart was in a million pieces you didn’t really seem to care. You walk from the lake putting your shoes back on, walking the forest trail until you come to a small clearing where in the center is a circle with a detailed pattern on the ground. You walk into the center of it and look to the sky.
“I’m ready Heimdall.” A bright beam of light descends upon you as you are transported back to Asgard. As the light fades, you step from the platform and walk up to Heimdall.
“I’m alright now, thank you.” You say giving him a smile. He pats you on the shoulder.
“You’ve been a good friend, it was the least I could do.” You nod your head farewell and make your way down the path until you get close to the palace, using your magic to transport you into one of the hallways, as it only works from a certain distance, especially as tired as you are. You turn and begin to walk back to your bedchamber until you hear a gasp behind you. Turning you see Ingrid running towards you. She pummels you with a hug.
“My lady! Where have you been? I’ve been searching for you, it has been hours since you were supposed to return.” She says squeezing you. You give a slight chuckle.
“I’m alright, I just needed time to clear my head,” you say patting her back, “Now if you wouldn’t mind I can’t breathe.” She releases you bowing in apology.
“Now then, would you be a dear and go pack up some of my belongings, we will be leaving here soon.” You say sadly.
“Where are we headed to my lady?”
“We are going to be moving into my family’s old manor on Vanaheim, I just need to go say my farewells to everyone first.” Her eyes widen in surprise.
“Well this is unexpected, but if you insist, I’ll go start packing.” She starts to walk towards your bedchamber but stops and turns, “Oh that’s right, Prince Loki came looking for you earlier at your chambers, he seemed really upset when I told him I hadn’t seen you since you left with him.” She gives you a thoughtful look and turns to continue down the hall. You bring your hand to your heart again and steady your breathing. He probably wasn’t worried or anything, probably just upset that you ran off so suddenly. You stand there for a few more moments before turning around to head to  see Loki. You got lost in your thoughts and kept your eyes to the ground until you realized you were standing right in front of Loki’s door. You tried to calm your heart, which was beating so fast you thought you were going to faint. Taking a deep breath you knock three times on Loki’s door. You wait. And wait. And wait. Nothing. Your shoulders slump and you turn around to head back. You look up just in time to see him turn the corner. Raking a hand through his hair and muttering a few curses, looking quite stressed. You froze, not really prepared to see him yet. You unintentionally whisper,
“Loki”
His head instantly snaps up at the sound of your voice. Pausing his walking momentarily, as if he can’t believe you’re standing right there, in front of his door. Had he been looking for you this whole time? In an instant he is right there, smothering you in his embrace. Holding you so tightly as if you’ll disappear again. You feel guilty for causing him so much worry.
“I thought I’d lost you,” he says resting his head in the crook of your neck. Those words instantly making you tear up again, bringing your hands up to stroke his back you keep apologizing over and over. He finally lifts his head and looks at you, relief is clear on his face.
“Where were you?” He asks quietly still holding you tightly, his face only a short bit from yours. You blush realizing how close he is, and push him off of you softly. He looks at you slightly hurt.
“Loki can we please talk for a moment?”  You say mustering all your strength to not dive right back into his arms. He looks at you registering your serious tone, before moving to the side and opening his door, motioning for you to come in. You enter his room and sit on the edge of his bed, a place you’ve sat many times before. You sadly think this might be the last. He sits down next to you, looking at you expectantly. You bit your bottom lip, not really wanting to this.
“Loki I have to tell you something,” you start and he nods for you to continue, not really knowing where to begin until it comes to you.
“I lied.” You say, and he looks at you confused, “about my dreams, they aren’t nightmares, and I do remember them, every detail.” You clarify. This just further confuses him.
“They’re about you,” you say averting your eyes in embarrassment, cheeks growing hot, “and me. Engaging in rather… erotic activities...” you mutter the last part quietly. Glancing at his face. He still looks confused as he registers what you’re saying, then his eyes widen and you swear his flawless skin turns bright red. He opens his mouth to speak but you hush him, you aren’t finished yet.
“After all, isn’t it normal for a maiden to fantasize… about the man she’s in love with?” You say, your cheeks somehow managing to deepen in hue. His face brightens up, but you tell yourself it’s just your mind playing tricks. You press a finger to his lips, trying your best to ignore the tingle down your spine from just touching them. Regaining your composure you continue,
“I have been in love with you for a very long time Loki, I fell in love with you, all of you, your smile when you are happy, the way your hands always seem to find mine, how concentrated you get when practicing your spells, even… the way your eyes twinkle when you happen to mention the girl you love, and it kills me when you talk about her. Because I know she has the one thing I could never, your heart.” You pause, feeling your eyes tear up.
“Today I just couldn’t bear it when you said you were going to confess to her, so I fled to Vanaheim to clear my head. I decided that I needed to tell you how I felt, before I left. I’m leaving to go somewhere away from here, because if I ever see you with her, I don’t think I could ever recover Loki. Now if you will excuse me I need to go help my chambermaid pack my belongings.” Feeling your eyes water even more from the rejection you knew was coming you stood up suddenly, startling him.
“Goodbye.” You said, willing your feet to move as you ran to the door.
You made just barely made it before you felt a hand grab your wrist. You turned and were met by a pair of lips on your own. Pushed against the door in the process. It took you a few moments before you realized what was happening and half that for your hands to entangle themselves in his hair. The kiss was intense, as if years of pent of feelings were being poured into it, it made your knees weak, but Loki supported you. His lips were soft, and they felt even better outside of your dreams. He brought ahand to your lower back and pulled you even closer to him. He released your lips so you both could breath before kissing you again and again. He parted from you and cupped the side of your face with one hand, touching your foreheads together, grinning, as if this was the best moment of his life.
“You aren’t going anywhere my dear.”  He said wiping his thumb along your cheek where a few tears had fallen before. “You aren’t leaving me ever again.” You look at him  happy but slightly confused.
“You never gave me a chance to give you this earlier,” he said stepping back only a bit to pull something out his pocket. It was a beautiful gold pendant with a large emerald in the center. He drapes it around your neck and fastens it. You look him in the eyes curiously.
“You are a vision my love.” Your breath catches, remembering those words.
“Loki wha-”
“I suppose I wasn’t making myself as obvious as I thought. [Name] you are the one I love. The maiden who has my heart is no one other than yourself.” He says looking at you. A smile blooms on your face as you throw yourself onto him. He stumbles a bit backwards, surprised before he wraps his arms around you chuckling.
“Now then,” he says giving you his signature smirk, “Sigmund! Get in here!” You see a door on a different wall open from you assume is Sigmund’s quarters. Sigmund being Loki’s own servant. You and him both widen you eyes upon seeing each other and you bury your face into Loki’s shoulder in embarrassment.
“Go to Lady [Name]’s bedchamber and tell her chambermaid I told her to cease packing at once, as Lady [Name] will not be leaving as planned,” he looks to you for confirmation, and you nod your head quickly, he keeps his gaze on you longer, before turning back to Sigmund, “Also tell her that her mistress will not be returning this night. Now get out.” You blush harder at his words and hear a door shut. You suddenly are picked up bridal style and brought into a kiss. You hear all the door knobs lock at once and the curtains close. You part again and [e/c] stares into green. He gives you a smirk and says,
“Darling, do tell me more about these dreams you’ve been having.”
Okay.. so first Loki fic. :D I swear I'm in love with him, not just Loki but Tom Hiddleston. (I have posters, shirts, he's even my background on my laptop so it might be an unhealthy obsession) Also my first fic in awhile. I'm almost 95% I didn't get his personality right, but oh whale. Please feel free to leave comments, if you see any errors feel free to tell me, I tried to edit it as best I could but I'm only human after all.

You belong to Loki now.
Loki belongs to Marvel/ Norse mythology.

P.s. you guys don't even know how many times I almost cried writing this, from happiness and from the drama
